Senior Buyer

Objectives of this Role The Senior Buyer is responsible for Purchasing goods, materials and services to ensure that the company's operational needs are met, taking into account price, quality and delivery and to ensure continuity of supply.
The primary focus of this role will be fabrications, machined parts, raw materials, and part finishing.
Duties and Responsibilities Prepare and place orders for materials and supplies to support.
Confirm prices and delivery of all orders.
Expedite critical and late orders; communicate required information to engineering, and operations.
Develop secondary supply sources for critical parts and processes.
Review existing pricing and develop strategic plan for cost and cycle time reduction.
Support negotiations with suppliers for assigned commodities to achieve the best price, quality, and schedule.
Assist engineering in the creating of new parts, R&D projects, cost reduction and quality improvement projects.
Monitor vendor performance and actively work toward continuous improvement of delivery, quality, and cost.
Utilize organization-wide purchasing policies and ensure compliance.
Maintain all required records of purchases, prices, and deliveries.
Serve as the technical resource in matters related to changing market conditions.
Support Finance and Global Purchasing activities by providing purchase price variance analysis, performing standard cost review, and facilitating cost of sales activities.
Participation in cost reduction activities to meet Purchasing targets.
Work cross functionally with the shop to monitor capacity with focus on internal versus external sourcing.
Develop make versus buy models to be utilized in the decision making of part sourcing.
Review costs of internal shop orders to ensure accuracy of labor and material, and update job costs and WIP as required Review and correct shop order exceptions.
Track inventory costs, outages, and long lead items, and communicate to the operations team Perform other related duties as assigned by management.
Skills and Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, supply chain or related field preferred 3
years of related experience in a manufacturing purchasing environment desirable Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience Good knowledge of purchasing, negotiation, commercial understanding and cost breakdown ERP experience is preferred Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, CAD files, tooling specifications and electronics material specifications Advanced computer skills, including the use of Windows, Outlook and Microsoft Office Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with senior management, supervisors, vendors, and employees Physical/Mental Standards Ability to operate a computer.
Manual dexterity sufficient for constant use of a keyboard, mouse, and telephone.
Speech and hearing sufficient for regular communications.
Vision sufficient for use of a computer monitor and transaction documents.
Ability to sit and stand for long periods of time.
Ability to perform climbing, stooping, crouching, walking, grasping, talking, hearing and repetitive motions.
Executing up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and or 10 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
